Soggy.Ĭomments: I dunno, Reddit… maybe we just had a bad batch, or their supply chain is whack and they cant get their normal recipe, but this was not good. Really surprising and I will be making this again with better technique, and maybe a squeeze of orange and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Breading was okay.Ĭomments: Full disclaimer, you all told me to use an air fryer, and I have neither an air fryer nor a convection oven, so the complaints may be mitigated depending on how it’s prepared. Tasting notes: really good orange flavor, quite tangy, a little oily and not as crispy. 11/22/2023 0 Comments Break reminder software for windowsI enjoyed this one a lot as I am the type of person who doesn’t like interruptions and enjoys doing work without any obstructions. Available for both Windows and MacOS users, it is easy to navigate and it is perfect for people who can’t stand annoying interruptions. After your set work time, a subtle sound notification in the form of a Tibetan singing bowl will remind you that it’s time to take a break. Instead of an intrusive break reminder, this app uses a more minimal and a less in-your-face approach. You will be able to input your work time and break time period in minutes. Check out the results below.Īwareness: Awareness is an app that allows users to set a timer that tracks the amount of activity on your computer. I compiled a list of apps to try out on both my MacBook and my iPhone for a week. Therefore I decided to do a little experiment. For me personally, I have never relied on apps to keep myself accountable and struggle with allocating myself appropriate break times thus suffering from eye strain and fatigue at the end of the day. However, if you are aware of the risks, and want to get up regularly, it can be easy to forget.įortunately, there are many solutions available that can give that gentle nudge or prompt to change posture and ensure you move more when you work. Prolonged sitting for hours on end can lead to detrimental health risks like cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes, as well as decreases in productivity and overall mood. It is easy to forget the amount of time you spend using your electronics, especially when you are knee deep in your work. I assume there are some head nodding and sighs of agreement as you recall the last time this happened to you. All of a sudden, your coffee has turned cold, fearful symptoms of repetitive strain injury start to show, four hours have passed and you realized you have not moved an inch away from your workstation. So imagine this scenario: piping hot coffee on your desk, paperwork and pens strewn across your table, you sit in your swivel office chair and your hands eagerly move towards your keyboard. 11/22/2023 0 Comments Byte smile stretcherAdding HyperByte to your treatment plan will shorten your overall treatment time-the technology allows you to achieve a straighter smile in as little as three to four months. You’ll also be able to log into your Byte Account Center online to see the “before and after” visuals of how your teeth will progress.Īs noted above, you have the option of using a daytime or nighttime aligner. Once you’ve purchased your modeling kit and sent in your impressions, expect your aligners to arrive about four to six weeks after an orthodontist reviews your impressions and creates the 3D visualization of your bite. Byte sends you an impression kit with instructions and, upon receiving your impressions, a 3D visualization of the current state of your smile and what it will look like after Byte treatment. The Byte process begins by making impressions of your smile at home. Byte’s HFV therapy is cleared by the FDA as a Class II medical device and only needs to be used for five minutes per day. It works by transmitting soft micropulses through the roots of your teeth and their surrounding bone. HyperByte is Byte’s proprietary high-frequency vibration (HFV) therapy technology that aims to achieve faster and more accurate results with reduced discomfort. The timeline for the all-day aligner is three to four months, while the night system aligner promises a straighter smile in five to six months. Included in each aligner kit is the optional HyperByte technology device, to be used for five minutes a day in conjunction with either the daytime aligner or overnight aligner. How Does Byte Work?Įstablished in 2017, Byte’s product lineup includes an all-day aligner to be worn for 22 hours each day and a “Byte-at-Night” system as an alternative to the all-day aligner (only to be worn for 10 hours at night). Byte’s dental professionals have an average of 12 years of expertise with invisible aligners, according to the company.īyte is ideal for those who don’t have severe malocclusion (imperfect positioning of the teeth), are comfortable making at-home impressions and working with a dental professional remotely to monitor their progress, want a short treatment time of a few months and are in search of a more affordable option compared to braces or competing clear aligners. They don’t recommend their products for people with problems such as severe overbite, open bites, overjet, malocclusion that requires surgical correction or active tooth decay. With more than 200 licensed orthodontists and dentists throughout the U.S., Byte claims they only accept people who are the right candidates for teledentistry-which generally includes patients that have minor bite issues. It appeals to people looking for a fast and affordable at-home dental alignment program. Byte Aligners Review: Costs, Benefits And Moreīyte is a teledentistry company offering at-home aligner products and programs designed to straighten your teeth quicker-and at a lower price -than traditional braces. Perhaps the new pricing means Google is more committed to this as a full product that they won't quickly shut down maybe once its out of beta, it too will be rolled into perhaps a higher-tiered G Suite plan.Īlso, Google Tables is geo-restricted to the US at the moment. Then for $10/month/user, you get 1,000 tables with 10k rows each (where, again, for that price Airtable offers unlimited tables, though only 5k rows per table, so here Google Tables is cheaper). Instead, you can get 100 tables with 1,000 rows each for free, which is less than Airtable which gives unlimited tables and 1,200 rows for free. Unlike almost every other software product Google makes, Google Tables is not fully free, and it's not bundled with G Suite's paid plans. Google Tables is perhaps most interesting for its pricing. You make a database table, list data in rows, create custom views with kanban boards and more to visualize data, use built-in forms to add data, and use built-in Slack and Google Chat integrations to share data with your team. Now Google's in the game, with a new product from their experimental Area 120 team: Google Tables. Then Microsoft launched Microsoft Lists as a way to "track information and organize work" and it, too, looks similar to Airtable's tables (or, perhaps, could be seen as bringing Microsoft Access to the web at long last). Hopefully, Backbone adds more ways for players to find each other in the future. Once you do find them, you can thankfully add them to your friend's list, but finding them is the hardest part. This means that, unless someone drops into one of the Rooms to be discovered, there is no way to find them unless you know their username. While the Rooms and Groups functions are great, there is no other way that I have found to discover other players on the platform. The last issue I take is with the social aspect of the app. It also does not work with a case, so you'll need to remove that if you want to play. This isn't a big deal and Backbone could be running into some component spacing problems here, but it is noticeable and something I hope they solve with the second generation. So much so that I find myself moving my hand down the right side of the controller ever so slightly to compensate. When I'm holding the controller like I normally would, it feels too low. If I had to gripe about anything with the controller itself it would have to be the right joystick and where it is positioned. Backbone says it is working on an Android version with USB-C instead of Lightning, but it has not said when that might be released. Granted, we are an Apple-focused website, so we don't care about that as much as others, but the point is still valid. One gripe for some gamers is that it is currently only available for iOS. While the Backbone One easily wins over any other portable gaming controller I have seen for the iPhone, that doesn't mean the experience is perfect. Backbone One: While it's better than the rest, it isn't perfectīackbone One App Social (Image credit: Joe Wituschek / iMore) You can even record, edit, and share your gameplay with the Backbone community or on social media. It makes it easy to find people who like similar games, team up, and chat with each other while gaming together. The app features an Xbox Live-like experience with chat rooms, groups, and more. The feature I was not expecting but that has taken my experience to an entirely different level is the social aspect of the Backbone app. That means you can easily switch between gaming services without having to hop out of the Backbone One experience and across different apps and websites (Xbox Cloud Gaming and Google Stadia are staring right at you, Apple). The best part is that it compiles your games across all of these services into one app. The Backbone app not only serves as a place to pick up where you left off with your most recent games, but it also is a place to discover other games you could be playing across Apple Arcade, the App Store, Xbox, Playstation, Stadia, and more. You can compare portable gaming controller hardware all day, but Backbone is the only brand that has built an app that takes iOS and its controller and mashes it together to truly turn your iPhone into a portable gaming console.īackbone is the only controller on the market today that truly turns your iPhone into a portable gaming console. While all of those things can make a portable controller really good, it's the Backbone app that makes the experience great. The buttons feel good, the D-pad is satisfying, the triggers are responsive, and the joysticks feel on par with some of the better console controller brands out there today. From the unboxing experience to the setup, everything is incredibly easy and smooth. It's not just good - it's SO good, it's surprising this was put together by a third party and not Apple itself. There are three things that make the Backbone One the best iPhone gaming controller, and the first is the hardware. Backbone One App (Image credit: Joe Wituschek / iMore) These are the beers for remembering.” He pulled down a few keepsakes. “The cooler out there-that has the beers for drinking. “These are the collectibles,” he said, dragging his finger over the bottles that lined the shelves. “But it’s a version of the same set-up I’ve always used. “People expect some sort of high-tech lab,” Papazian says. With biology, with chemistry! With life itself! Take yeast, for example: Depending on temperature, pressure, motion, it gives off different compounds. “That’s because the enzymes in your mouth are breaking down the starches.” He went on, “Now look, I don’t want to get too Zen-like, but what I’ve always loved about brewing is that you’re dealing with organisms. “You’ll notice that the longer you chew, the sweeter the barley gets,” he said. He encouraged me to taste a small handful of the grain. Smooth and not overly assertive.”Ĭrossing the garage, he found the barley he’d used for a different batch. “It’s got a porter-like quality to it, doesn’t it?” he asked. It tasted soft each sip melted on the tongue, like chocolate. “As a hello, or as a thank-you.” He offered me a pour of a recent concoction: a dark lager made with hops he’d grown in the field behind the garage. “I go to visit a buddy, or I give a talk, and I bring some beer,” he explained. He does not sell it, preferring to dole out samples to friends. These days, Papazian brews a five-gallon batch of beer about once a month-typically a lager or an ale. Right, Papazian has kept detailed notes about his yeasty adventures in journals stretching back decades. He left the original workbench and a few lockers and added several sets of shelves to stow the essentials: buckets of malted barley, rice, and yeast cultures, glass carboys for fermenting the beer, serpentine coils of tubing and strainers for trapping the errant grain, and a freezer full of hops. Papazian installed a glass-walled cooler, plus a custom- built, walk-in fridge with six-inch-thick foam-insulated walls he’d reclaimed from a defunct turkey farm. |
